A £40m skills and jobs fund was announced by the Welsh Government’s Finance Minister Rebecca Evans on 28th July.
In response to the announcement, Heather Myers, CEO of South and Mid Wales Chamber of Commerce, said: “We very much welcome the announcement made by Welsh Government today. This additional funding is vital and reflects a commitment to ensuring that the younger generation are supported in finding work and training opportunities in the years to come. It will also ensure a stream of skilled workers which will be paramount to our economic recovery, as well as having significant societal benefits. Our hope is that with this additional funding, a direct impact will be had on communities across Wales and the availability of skilled labour for local companies to recruit from, all aiding our recovery from the Coronavirus pandemic.”
