Shout about the good things

At the end of last year, we asked you to shout about the good things you’ve been up to as businesses for us to share with our online followers and community. As we wrap up our #SWCCcheer campaign, we thank all of those who shared the wonderful things they’ve done to benefit their local communities and charity. Dozens of really worthwhile causes have beneffited this year due to the generosity of our members.

At the South Wales Chamber of Commerce, we put a big focus on how we, and our members, can support local communities throughout the region. Among support for homeless charities, cancer support charities, mental health services and causes who work with young people, our members have done some impressive things this year.

As an example, patrons of the Princes Trust, Pro Steel Engineering, have donated new handrails for the new memorial garden at Ty Hafan, supplied equipment free of charge for Caldicot Fireworks, sponsored Croesyceilog RFC, Caldicot RFC and aspiring Welsh International Hockey Goalkeeper Cerys Edmunds. 2020 will also see them take part in the National Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society and sponsor a High Sheriff of Gwent grant. It’s certainly been a busy year for the team!

Among the successes of our members, Gallagher’s team in Wales were recognised by the company for their impressive work for Ysgol Ty Coch, as they secured a further £23,500 to build an outdoor woodland learning space following their 2018 donation of £25,000 towards their state-of-the-art wheelchair accessible outdoor play area.

Heather Myers said: “Our members have done some really wonderful things this year. We thank all of you for sharing your stories and its great to see so many causes benefitting from your generosity, both in time and money. I feel so proud to be a part of a community that puts such emphasis on supporting others.”

Thank you to all members who shared the great things they’ve been up to in the last year, we look forward to seeing what 2020 holds in store and how our members continue to support their local communities.
