BCB International Ltd, Wales’s foremost specialist in protective equipment for survival in the military, marine, outdoor and extreme environments are delighted to announce that owner and Managing Director Andrew Rhys Howell has been honoured by Her Majesty the Queen in her Birthday 2022 Honours List.
Mr Howell is to be made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to Frontline Workers during the Pandemic. BCB International team and Howell personally worked around the clock making protective clothing, ventilator bags, personal protective kits and Dr Browne’s hand sanitiser for the Welsh NHS. He also provided PPE to the Police, Fire Service and Prison Service among others.
Seeing that many charities and social services were not being provided for and yet were continuing to provide vital services Howell gave PPE to over 60 different organisations, including Boomerang, Cardiff City Hospice, Rainbow of Hope, Big Moose, Women’s Aid and To Wish Upon A Star.
The spirit of invention that Andrew Howell and BCB International are renowned for in meeting the challenges for protection of service personnel and those whose lives are at risk within extreme environments, was certainly tested over the Pandemic and lockdowns where machinery was converted to provide vital and essential equipment with urgent deadlines.
Howell said “I am delighted to accept this Honour on behalf of my family and my BCB team, each of whom were incredible in meeting the often-emotional demands during the Pandemic. I feel we certainly lived up to our motto ‘Saving and Protecting Lives in Hostile Environments’.”
