Partner Insight: Why entering the Wales Business Awards is a winning PR move

Effective Communication’s digital director Rhys Gregory shares his view on the Wales Business Awards, and why even entering can be a smart PR move.

Winning a prestigious award for your business can be beneficial on many levels, but remember, it’s not just the winning that counts.

Entering the Welsh Business Awards gives you the opportunity to showcase your company’s achievements and just being shortlisted can be a huge morale boost to your team. What better way to start 2022?

If you are lucky enough to be shortlisted, it can go a long way to giving your PR strategy a boost too.

Here are six reasons why entering the Welsh Business Awards will benefit your business:

Free marketing, even if you’re shortlisted

PR is no longer limited to print. If you are shortlisted, your company’s name will appear on the award’s website, social media and other PR channels, all at no cost to you.

Increased credibility and reputation

Entering industry or sector awards can help build your business’ reputation among existing customers and stakeholders. You don’t need to win either – you can display the fact that you’ve entered and have been shortlisted on your channels as well; including your website, social media, email signatures. Be sure to include a line mentioning it in any upcoming press releases too.

Employer of choice

The awards don’t just reward existing staff, they are also a great opportunity to attract new talent and make your business stand out as an employer of choice.

Build media contacts

The exposure that you receive from being shortlisted for the Wales Business Awards will put you in good stead for future PR opportunities with the media. They will have heard of you, know what you’re about, and have the added knowledge of your award win.

Increased confidence

For many businesses, entering the awards gives them a confidence boost. Until now, you may have been reluctant to jump in and put your business on the centre stage. The awards give you an opportunity to solidify your hard work over the past twelve months and celebrate your achievements.

Time well spent

Writing winning awards entries can sometimes be time consuming, but not always.

This year, entering the Wales Business Awards is simpler than ever. With just a short form to complete, and a 3-4 minute video to record, your entry could be submitted in super quick time.

To make it even simpler, your short video entry can cover multiple categories too, maximising your chances of being shortlisted, and ultimately scooping an award.

If you’re shortlisted, you will be invited to an online interview, again, taking away the need to complete any time-consuming entry forms.

If you are lucky enough to win at the regional level, you can opt to include your business in the national British Chamber of Commerce awards too, taking your business UK-wide.

Don’t forget that the Wales Business Awards are open to all and free to enter. If you’re considering entering, be quick, the deadline for entries is 5pm on Friday 1st April 2022. You can enter online here.

And if you’re still not convinced, we regularly draft award entries on behalf numerous clients and can help you put together a winning entry. Feel free to get in touch for an informal chat.
