Partner insight: Celebrating St David’s Day with exclusive insights

Chambers Wales South East, South West and Mid’s partner ACCA Cymru/Wales has a history of celebrating St David’s Day with an event that is a highlight of the business networking calendar in south Wales. Bringing the business community together, the Saint David’s Day Breakfast combines the joys of Welsh culture with exclusive insights from notable figures.

This year ACCA Cymru/Wales is inviting businesses and business leaders to hear a great Welsh success story first-hand at the breakfast event on Friday 28 February at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff.

Meet Chamber partner ACCA Cymru/Wales

ACCA Cymru/Wales is part of ACCA, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Founded in 1904 to widen access to the accountancy profession, ACCA is a globally recognised professional accountancy body which provides qualifications and advances standards in accountancy worldwide.

Proudly supporting a diverse community of over 252,500 members and 526,000 future members in 180 countries, ACCA equips individuals with the business and finance expertise and ethical judgement to create, protect and report the sustainable value delivered by organisations and economies.

The history of the St David’s Day Breakfast

Every year ACCA Cymru/Wales hosts its Saint David’s Day Breakfast event in central Cardiff. The event, kindly sponsored by Menzies LLP, brings together representatives from across the entire business community to network and to celebrate Dydd Gŵyl Dewi. As well as listening to the guest speaker’s experiences and stories, guests enjoy a sparkling drinks reception, a traditional Welsh breakfast and performances from a Welsh choir.

In recent years, speakers have included Nan Williams (Global Welsh), Dr Rhian-Mari Thomas OBE (Green Finance Institute), Noel Mooney (Football Association of Wales) and Anne Jessopp (The Royal Mint).

Meet the speaker: Rhian Wilkinson

On 28 February, those in attendance will hear from a very special guest speaker who is not afraid to analyse and address the challenges sport, women in sport and Welsh society face: Rhian Wilkinson, Head Coach of the Wales Women’s Football Team.

Originally from Canada, Rhian has enjoyed success playing for her national team in the Pan American Games and Olympics, while her team career includes playing for sides in Canada, Norway and the USA.

Rhian was named as Head Coach of Wales in 2024 and the side recently made history by qualifying for their first ever major tournament, Euro 2025, which takes place later this year. The Saint David’s Day Breakfast will be a fantastic opportunity for businesses in Wales to hear first-hand from Rhian about the success of the team, the impact that this will have in growing the game in Wales, as well as lessons that we can all learn from sporting success.

Both ACCA member and non-member places for the breakfast are available to book.
