Partner Blog: Adventure Travel’s ‘Charity of the Year’

Adventure Travel is pleased to announce they are getting closer to finding their ‘Charity of The Year 2021’.

We asked our customers and colleagues to nominate a charity that they would like to see considered for our charity of the year. We are now asking you to vote for your favourite charity from those nominated.

Below are the charities up for a vote, in no particular order:

Guide Dogs for the Blind – Guide Dogs’ ambition is a future where every person with sight loss has the confidence and support to live their lives to the full.

Dogs for Good – For over thirty years, Dogs for Good has been using its knowledge and experience to bring people with disabilities and dogs together, enabling life-changing differences.

National Autistic Society – The National Autistic Society is the UK’s leading charity for autism. We are here to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people.

Alzheimer’s Society Cymru – Alzheimer’s Society Cymru is Wales’ leading dementia charity. We campaign for change, fund research to find a cure and support people living with dementia today.

SANDS (Stillbirth and neonatal death charity) – Sands exists to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, to improve the bereavement care received by parents and families, and to promote research to reduce the number of babies dying. Everything we do – the services we run, the public health messages we promote, the way we raise money – is focussed around these three aims.

Tŷ Hafan Hospice – Tŷ Hafan is a Welsh children’s charity which provides comfort, care and support to children with life-limiting conditions, along with their families.

Air Ambulance Wales – Launched on St. David’s Day 2001, the Wales Air Ambulance (WAA) Charity is the official air ambulance service for Wales. WAA provides air cover to relieve illness and injury across Wales 24 hours a day.

Crisis Homeless Charity – Homelessness is devastating, dangerous and isolating. It’s a complex issue and people can become homeless for lots of different reasons. Losing a job or a relationship breakdown can quickly force people into facing homelessness. We can end homelessness for good.

LATCH – LATCH Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity supports children, and their families, who are being treated by the Oncology Unit at the Children’s Hospital of Wales.

2 Wish Upon A Star – 2 Wish Upon A Star provide immediate and ongoing bereavement support to families, individuals and professionals throughout Wales that have been affected by the sudden and traumatic death of a child or young adult aged 25 or under.

Dean Farm Trust – The primary aim of the Trust is to provide a home for life, shelter, warmth, food, and enrichment, too sick, ill-treated and unwanted animals.

St David’s Hospice Newport – St David’s Hospice Care is committed to providing bespoke, individual ‘free’ care for all our patients and their families. We work alongside patients and hope to support them at the most difficult times of their lives. We aim to ensure that patients have a choice about the care they receive whilst maintaining dignity throughout their journey is paramount to us.

Sight Cymru – Sight Cymru supports people with sight loss in Wales, proud to be the only entirely Welsh sight loss agency that provides services throughout Wales.

Dementia UK – Dementia UK provides specialist dementia support for families through our Admiral Nurse service. When things get challenging or difficult for people with dementia and their families, Admiral Nurses work alongside them, giving the compassionate one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions that can be difficult to find elsewhere.

City Hospice Cardiff – City Hospice is the only provider of home-based specialist palliative care to those suffering from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses in Cardiff. The charity cares for those over 18 when a cure is no longer possible.

CLIC (Children’s Cancer Charity) – Today. 12 more children and young people in the UK will hear the devastating news that they have cancer. CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children, young people and their families and we work alongside the NHS.

Epilepsy Action – Epilepsy Action is the UK’s biggest community of people committed to a better life for everyone affected by epilepsy.

Action for Children – Action for Children protects and supports children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support, ensuring their voices are heard, and campaigning to bring lasting improvements to their lives.

Boomerang – Boomerang Cardiff Focuses on the needs of the community from all suburbs of Cardiff. As a Charitable organisation, we work hand in hand with the community to support and prevent homelessness and poverty.

National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) – The National Deaf Children’s Society is the leading charity for deaf children in the UK. They give expert support on childhood deafness, raise awareness and campaign for deaf children’s rights, so they have the same opportunities as everyone else.

Noah’s Ark Children’s Charity – Every year 73,000 children, from across Wales, receive specialist and life-saving treatment at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital in Cardiff and in their communities across the nation.

Marie Curie Hospice – The Marie Curie Cardiff and Vale Hospice delivers free expert hands-on 24-hour care and emotional support, helping people living with a terminal illness and their families.

Kicking Off Against Cancer – Kicking Off Against Cancer as a registered charity was set up with one very simple aim, to help and support those that are affected by this awful disease by providing respite for people going through treatment and helping them make memories with the people closest to them that will last forever.

GirlGuiding Gwent – Girlguiding Gwent is a charity for girls and young women which gives them opportunities to have fun, develop friendships and learn skills for their future. We are a volunteer-led organisation, run purely for the benefit of girls and young women in our communities. We do trips, sleepovers and camps; we involve the girls in their communities and widen their horizons about their world.

Severn Area Rescue Association – SARA is a multi-disciplinary team covering across South Wales, Gloucestershire and the Midlands. In the South Wales area, we provide; Declared lifeboats to the UK Coastguard; National flood rescue teams for DEFRA; Land Search teams; Rope rescue teams.

Finns Foundation – Finn’s Foundation has been created to give cash grants to families of children with terminal or life-threatening illnesses to spend how they see fit.

GTFM – GTFM is the local community radio station for the Rhondda Cynon Taf area. We provide local news and information service, which is run by volunteers. We offer training and volunteering opportunities in broadcasting and media and support local charities and not for profit organisations within the local community by helping to promote their charities, events and fundraising opportunities.

NYAS Cymru – At NYAS, we listen to the voices of children and young people in care, ask about what they say and empower them to get their voice heard. We ensure their wishes and feelings are expressed and we act upon this to improve their situation and help them build a better future, through advocacy, legal services, and practical and emotional support.
