The Help to Grow: Management Course was launched in August 2021 with the aim to get small business leaders to take part in a practical leadership training programme and receive one-to-one mentoring from an experienced volunteer business mentor.
Volunteer mentors can be anyone with a minimum of five years’ experience working in a business at a senior level or equivalent working closely with a small business. The time commitment for an individual mentor is ten hours over twelve weeks to support a small business leader with their growth action plan.
Mentors receive significant value from signing up for the course, including:
- access to fully funded Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) Executive Coaching and Mentoring training up to Level 7
- opportunity to develop new skills and experiences by being exposed to different business cultures and challenges
- access qualified content, peer support and networking with fellow mentors
- truly give back by using your experience to help another business leader grow
Existing mentor for the Help to Grow: Management Course, Zoila Garman from ZYGER FIT, based in Caerphilly comments on why she joined the programme, “There is a need to spread positive energy amongst business owners. It isn’t easy to run a business, it is a lonely walk but having someone to talk to makes the difference.”
Zoila continues, “Great leadership comes with big responsibilities however it is important to teach others to be leaders too or at least to obtain a degree of confidence to perform their own crafts. Empowering others to believe in themselves not only helps them but helps you too. If you can change or affect positively the course of events for someone else rather than only yours it will demonstrate compassion, wisdom and power. The benefits are endless because by helping others you are helping yourself too.”
You can join the national effort to help a small business grow by signing up as a volunteer mentor here.
