Chambers Wales signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) SME on Sunday March 7 to cooperate on training, development and research activities, as well as sharing best practices and organising events.
RAK SME is a Chamber of Commerce and Industry representing the Ras Al Khaimah region of the United Arab Emirates. Like Chambers Wales, RAK SME operates as a business services organisation, supporting economic growth and opportunities for small and medium sized enterprises in its country.
The virtual event was opened by Faheem Azhar, a Cyber Wales Steering Group Member and Strategic Advisor for the UAE and Middle East region.
Following Mr Azhar’s introductions, His Excellency Mr Yousef Mohammed Esmaeel spoke on behalf of RAK SME. His Excellency is actively involved in the RAK SME, holding key leadership roles including board member of the RAK Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Chairman of the Supreme Committee of RAK SME and the Vice Chairman of RAK Transport Authority.
There were additional addresses from Jo Price, Director of International at Chambers Wales and John Davies, Co-Founder & Chair of the Cyber Wales Ecosystem ahead of the signing of the MOU by all relevant parties.
Jo Price, Director of International at Chambers Wales, said: “We are pleased to have signed a memorandum of understanding with RAK SME. Welsh businesses will benefit from the close working relationship and access to trade opportunities in the UAE. This is an exciting opportunity to work with another Chamber to cooperate on areas of joint interest including training, development and events.”
