Chambers of Commerce – Making Connections Happen

Take a company eye view at the huge merits of joining your local Chamber of Commerce, by one of our very own members, Clarke Willmott.

Clarke Willmott is a growing national full-service law firm with considerable expertise in many sectors, with a wide and varied client place from private clients, family businesses to multinationals.

Founded in Somerset over 100 years ago, the firm operates from seven strategic centres throughout the UK employing over 600 staff and partners. Our specialist lawyers and professionals provide advice in many areas including corporate, construction, planning, employment, commercial litigation, debt recovery, agriculture and retail.

At the heart of the business is the in-depth local and regional knowledge that the Partners and staff have, connecting with the communities they serve. Many of the lawyers have strong personal connections to the area where they are based, understanding the key challenges and opportunities that affect the regional economy, bringing specialist knowledge, entrepreneurial spirit and client focused attitude that Clarke Willmott prides itself on.

A pivotal channel of engagement for Clarke Willmott is through Chambers of Commerce. Clarke Willmott are delighted to be members of six Chambers across the UK who are accredited to the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), along with membership of several affiliated Town Chambers. The connection to the BCC cannot be underestimated being the voice of British business. As an example, the recent successful campaign to simplify trade procedures with the Government automatically issuing Economic Operator Registration & Identification (EORI) numbers to help exporters is a prime example of its influence, affecting many Clarke Willmott clients.

Martin Palmer, Director of Business Development & Marketing commented “As the firm grows it is vital to create and develop relationships with the business community. Chambers of Commerce are an ideal way to connect for new opportunities to be created. Whether it is sponsoring the Somerset Business Awards organised by Somerset Chamber of Commerce, the CEO of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce speaking at Clarke Willmott event, or organising a joint tour of Hinkley Point C with South Wales Chamber, the value of these connections and partnership cannot be underestimated”.

Adam Marshall, Director General, from the British Chambers of Commerce said “Our accredited network provides a strong voice to the business communities they represent. Across the UK, Chambers and their members work to improve the local business environment in which they operate and are the voice Britain’s civic business. It is great that Chamber members play an active role in their business communities, seeing the value of their Accredited Chambers of Commerce helping companies and people achieve their full potential.”
