Chamber supports members’ trade with India in new agreement

Chambers Wales South East, South West and Mid has signed a service-level agreement with strategic advisory business ERGO Europe to provide business assistance to Chambers Wales members and partners.

ERGO Europe, meaning Emerging Regions Growth Opportunities, is dedicated to helping UK businesses engage with India, Southeast Asia & the Middle East. The company offers strategic advice and tactical support to help clients understand, enter, and expand in international markets. The agreement aims to help promote and develop economic, business and investment relations between Wales and India in particular.

What services are included?

Led by Managing Director Siddharth Mukne, ERGO Europe’s team will work with the Chamber to support its members, especially those who trade with India or who want to explore the market in the future.

The services offered by ERGO Europe in partnership with the Chamber will include bespoke training opportunities, free-of-charge webinars, upskilling opportunities and panel support, as well as editorial contributions. Upon request, additional services can also be provided, including landing services, logistic services, trade consultancy and training courses.

The partnership is timely following the UK and India Free Trade Agreement which aims to boost trade, investment and economic growth in both countries by reducing tariffs and other trade barriers.

Why is India an important market?

India is the world’s fifth largest economy and the UK’s 11th largest trading partner. It is also one of the fastest growing major economies, with growth reflecting strong domestic demand, investment and innovation.

India is a key trading partner for the UK, ranking among its top destinations for goods and services exports. In 2024, total UK trade with India reached £42.6bn, including £17.1bn in UK exports and £25.5bn in imports.

UK exports to India include machinery, pharmaceuticals, automotive products, and professional services. The services sector, especially in technology, education, and financial services, offers strong growth potential with India’s digital economy rapidly expanding.

David Peña, Director of International Trade at Chambers Wales South East, South West and Mid, said:

“We are delighted to begin this partnership with ERGO Europe. Siddharth and his team have helped thousands of UK businesses across different sectors and regions to actively engage with the Indian market, generating significant export revenue and job creation. This collaboration allows our members to unlock access to this major market and improve trade opportunities in Southeast Asia.”

Siddharth Mukne, Managing Director of ERGO Europe, said:

“We are thrilled about this collaboration which enables Chamber members to achieve access to the Indian market and strengthen trading opportunities between Wales and India. At ERGO Europe, we are dedicated to providing strategic advice and practical support to help businesses understand, enter, and grow within international markets. This partnership marks a significant step towards a more connected and prosperous future for businesses in both countries.”
