Chamber connection: Member creates inspiring environment for charity

Chambers Wales South East, South West and Mid member Orangebox has supported Welsh bereavement charity, 2wish in transforming its new headquarters into a welcoming, functional and inspiring environment for its dedicated team, volunteers and the families it supports following the sudden loss of a child or young adult.

Meet Chamber member Orangebox

Orangebox, a south-Wales based furniture company, has been creating innovative ‘Smartworking’ solutions for collaborative workplaces since 2002. The business specialises in designing sustainable furniture and interior architecture to connect people and empower collaboration, working with clients including the Office for National Statistics and Principality Building Society.

A special Chamber introduction

When Orangebox relocated their London showroom to a more sustainable, lower carbon building, they wished to donate their high-quality furniture that no longer fit in their new space. Meanwhile, the Welsh charity 2wish, which supports families who have faced the sudden and devastating loss of a child or young adult, had recently moved to a new head office and wanted a space to reflect the warmth, care and dignity that families deserve.

That vision became a reality thanks to an introduction from the Chambers Wales team. Recognising Orangebox’s commitment to sustainability and the circular economy, and knowing the vital work that former Wales Business Awards chosen charity 2wish provides, the Chamber’s Penny Lock facilitated the connection of the business and charity to ensure that the furniture could have a welcome second life.

This thoughtful collaboration is a brilliant example of business purpose in action. The Chamber is proud to facilitate connections between members and the third sector, enabling meaningful partnerships that help organisations deliver on their ESG and CSR goals while making a tangible difference in our communities.

Gareth Banks, Head of Sustainability at Orangebox, said:

“We’re genuinely thrilled that so many pieces have found a second life at 2wish’s superb new head office. We have a huge respect for everyone at 2wish Cymru for the incredible work that they do.”

Rhian Mannings, CEO of 2wish, said:

“We are absolutely thrilled with the recent donation from Gareth and Orangebox. As our new office is located close to Orangebox’s factory HQ, the connection feels even more meaningful.

“The seating and work pod are amazing and look wonderful in our new office. Every day the team works tirelessly to support suddenly bereaved families, and we’re delighted to now be working in such a lovely space with suitable furniture and facilities. Bereaved families spend a lot of time with our team and having such a warm and comfortable space makes their difficult visits a little bit easier.”

Penny Lock, Director of Partnerships and Business Development at the Chamber, said:

“It was a pleasure to connect Orangebox and 2wish to enable this extremely generous donation. This truly reflects the power of Chamber member collaboration – supporting a fantastic cause with quality products and services from a local business and supply chain but also prioritising sustainable and people focused solutions.”
