BT discusses digital transformation with senior stakeholders in Wales

BT and South and Mid Wales Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a successful online roundtable event with a focus on BT’s investments in Wales and the many benefits of digital transformation.

On Wednesday 30 September BT partnered with the South and Mid Wales Chamber of Commerce to host an exclusive virtual event for organisations across Wales. Over 20 senior stakeholders from the public sector and other large organisation in Wales attended and engaged in interesting discussions on how businesses and communities can stay connected in these current disparate circumstances.

Hosted by the Chamber’s President Paul Slevin, the event included an update on the Cardiff Capital Region City Deal (CCRD) from its digital programme lead Jo Evans, who shared details of CCRD’s digital journey to date. The CCRD programme is set to bring significant economic growth in the South East Wales region through investment, upskilling and improved physical and digital connectivity. Jo Evans outlined CCRD’s transformation plans, which have connectivity at the core.

It also featured talks from senior BT staff members including Simon Haston, Sam Toombs and Shadi Malkawi on shaping the future of towns and cities by enabling businesses and communities to unlock their potential. A collaborative session allowed attendees to have their say on what digital transformation means to them and share the outcomes that their digital transformation strategy drives. Attendees also discussed what they view as the biggest obstacles to digital transformation in their organisations, with BT experts on hand offering support to overcome barriers.

BT firmly believes that digital technology will be fundamental to the recovery of UK towns and cities post COVID-19. Whilst it can be difficult to plan ahead when the future is so uncertain, and many organisations continue to adapt to new ways of working as working from home and virtual meetings become the norm, BT can support organisations to effectively adjust and make the best of the new circumstances.

Supporting Wales in its digital transformation is important to BT. Its investments in Wales are routed in enhancing connectivity and fuelling growth, with a vision that includes driving inclusive growth, creating a healthy and safe society and providing skills.
