The Wales Business Awards are back for our 21st year to showcase the best Welsh business has to offer.

The awards, organised by Chambers Wales South East, South West and Mid, provide businesses across the country with the opportunity to compete for Wales’ most prestigious accolades.

Businesses have the chance to enter an increased number of categories this year including ‘Exporter of the Year’, ‘Innovative Business of the Year’ and the ‘Workplace Wellbeing Award’.

We will be presenting the awards this summer on 16th May at the Vale Hotel and Resort, which will see broadcaster Andrea Byrne, return as host.

We’ll be putting on a celebration to acknowledge all our finalists and congratulate our winners, bringing together members of the Welsh business community, ministers and dignitaries.

B2B Customer Commitment Award

You might have seen less of your customers in person over the past three years and with the cost of doing business crisis, your customers might also be facing challenges in their business. How have you kept your customer relationships at the forefront of your business and delivered excellence?

With this award we are recognising those Welsh businesses that truly have customer relationships at the heart of their business and strive to go that bit further for their clients.

B2C Customer Commitment Award

You might have seen a change in your audience or your customer behaviour since the pandemic and cost of living crisis, so how have you engaged with your customers, kept them at the forefront of your business and delivered excellence to them?

With this award we are recognising those Welsh businesses that truly have consumer customer service at the heart of their business and strive to go that bit further for their customers.

Digital Business of the Year

Digital connectivity is constantly accelerating with the move to more hybrid models of working, greater focus on sustainable outcomes and increasing digital innovation. How has your business embraced technology and used it to improve your business?

This award will be recognising businesses that have used digital technology to improve their business or services, as well as their internal processes and employee experience.

Diversity and Inclusion Award - sponsored by Serco

Advancement and acceptance cannot be taken for granted. It has been shown that a diverse workforce is good for business, yet people in minorities do not always have the same access to opportunities, remuneration and success as others.

This award recognises businesses that are creating an environment of acceptance and inclusion, through hiring practices, inclusion policies and fair opportunities.


Employee Engagement Award - sponsored by Howdens Insurance

The pandemic and following years changed the way we look at working. The ongoing skills crisis has put pressure on employees to compensate. How have you been keeping your people engaged through this challenging time?

This award recognises businesses that place an importance on developing the skills of their workforce, providing opportunities for their workforce to contribute to the development of the business and creating an environment that allows people to thrive.


Global Business of the Year - sponsored by Atradius

Doing business overseas is a challenge with so many different factors affecting the movement of goods and people. We are celebrating businesses who trade on a global scale and promote Brand Wales.

This award recognises the strength of Wales’ exporters. Entrants for this award must stand out from the crowd on the international stage and demonstrate that they have generated significant and/or sustained increases in their export activity.


Green Business of the Year

Sustainability and ‘going green’ has been brought to the forefront of the agenda for all businesses by climate change. How has your business adapted to become more eco-friendly and reduce your carbon output?

This award will be recognising businesses that have adopted greener ways of working, leading to a more positive impact on their business and the environment.


Innovative Business of the Year - sponsored by Browne Jacobson

The ever-changing global economic landscape has accelerated the need for innovation in products, services and practices.

This award recognises businesses that have innovation at their heart and have identified new ways to stay ahead of the competition. This award will go to a company that has been innovative in its approach to business and that has achieved success through diversification and development.


Workplace Wellbeing Award

People are the backbone of businesses, and the mental and physical health of employees can determine the success of a business. The past few years and the ongoing cost of living crisis has thrown this into sharp focus.

This award recognises businesses that are creating an environment for their employees to succeed by demonstrating their commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of their workforce.

Young Entrepreneur of the Year

This award recognises young people who are successfully running their own business or leading an established business and have taken their organisation forward in the last year.

This award will be presented to someone aged 16-30 who demonstrates entrepreneurial flair, exceptional vision and leadership.

SME Exporter of the Year - sponsored by Welsh Government

Sponsored by the Welsh Government, the ‘SME Exporter of the Year’ award is focussed on recognising and celebrating those small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) that have achieved significant export growth in new and/or existing overseas markets.  Supporting ‘exports’ is a priority for both the Welsh Government and Chambers Wales so applications are welcomed from businesses who can demonstrate how their approach, resilience, drive and determination have led to notable export success in 2023/24.


We will also be awarding ‘Wales Business of the Year’ to one of the entrants.

The Wales Business of the Year award is all about celebrating the successes of businesses here in Wales. This award goes to a business which is  shouting success from the rooftops.

The Wales Business of the Year award is presented to one of our finalists or winners who stands out from the crowd and has wowed the judges with:

  • The strength of their presence on the national or international stage
  • Achieving financial growth or sustaining a strong financial performance
  • Their ability to meet the demands of the market
  • Prioritising their customers experience and needs through innovative, relevant and respected products or services.
  • Being a great employer – they create jobs for the local economy, have a skilled workforce and take care of their people
  • Promoting ‘Brand Wales’ – they are synonymous with Wales!

This winner of this award will be selected from the winners and finalists of the award categories.
